OESA and IRN, Inc. will share results from the seventh IRN Pricing Survey on Dec. 10, 2009, at the Hotel Baronette, Novi, Mich. The biennial survey of the automotive supplier community gathers information on the dynamics of pricing negotiations between suppliers and their customers. Given the drastic changes in the industry over the past year, IRN supplemented a core set of questions on price reduction requests with coverage of other aspects of costs involved with serving customers, and how suppliers are coping with the downturn. Kim Korth, president and CEO, IRN, Inc., will present survey findings and implications. The survey results will provide suppliers with useful data for internal strategy sessions as well as productive discussions with customers. Items covered include how much customers are requesting, what kind of reductions suppliers are agreeing to, and how behaviors vary by customer group (Chrysler, Ford, GM, New Domestics and Tier Ones). This year’s presentation will also report on new topics, including: - How successful have suppliers been in reducing their cost structure?
- Is takeover work having a significant impact on supplier business?
- Has the relative power between suppliers and their customers shifted?
- Are any suppliers getting price increases?
Dan Sharkey, partner, Brooks Wilkins Sharkey & Turco PLLC, will discuss how to maximize leverage in contract and price negotiations in today’s environment from a legal and practical perspective. Event pricing includes a copy of the IRN survey report. If more than one representative of a single company attends the event, only one executive needs to purchase the report. Subsequent attendees from the same company may pay a reduced price that does not include the publication. OESA members and industry guests may register in the events section at http://www.oesa.org.
